    Orson wells was a wonderful man and a great (if egotistical,) expert on the art of theatre. Between him, Jean Rosenthal, Angela Lansbury and Jon Hausman, I learned most of what I know about the theatre.

    We need an updated version using a compression of the history of the ACA instead of aliens.

    The only people who did panic were the ones who didn’t listen to the whole broadcast…panic was not widespread…

    I asked my grandfather about it when he was alive. He laughed at me. Thought the idiots who took it seriously were ….idiots

    Radios were the single point news source for those who had them, not all people did, gossip was the main source of information for many people, the same as now, only we now have augmented gossip. The half-life of gossip was longer then………………

    You know it still is one of the most scary things I have ever heard. But it is my Tradition on Halloween to listen to it every year. Just not Halloween kind of like it’s just not Christmas without watching at least one version of “A Christmas Carol” or ’A Charlie Brown Christmas."

    Look at the damage people ARE doing with Twitter – ruining reputations, weakening national security, etc. It’s too easy to tweet before you think, and it spreads everywhere rapidly.

    @Reality,really?

    Back in ’38, there were real Nazis, real Fascists, and real Soviet Communists, and Americans were worried that someone (or something) would invade BEFORE the programme.

    And, long after the programme, many elderly grandparents who HAD panicked during the broadcast told their grandchildren just what your grandfather told you.
