    In order of frequency: etaoin shrdlu. (The Linotype had a keyboard in that order, downward. If a typo were made while typing, the rest of the line would be filled by running down the caps keyboard, and the resulting slug would be removed – most of the time. Pogo had frequent references to some never-seen character by that name.
