Frank and Ernest, created by Bob Thaves, chronicles the antics of two "everyman" characters who are anything but ordinary! They appear in different settings, time periods - even manifest as things and creatures other than people. The variety in the strip extends to their observations about a wide number of subjects.

re: pike
It’s been done, but rarely. The critters don’t like it much.

@John Pike
Watch the old movie “Swiss Family Robinson”. They had a zebra race with the dog and the elephant when they were attack by pirates.

A zebra would have the same problem that they had when they first tried to ride horses, their back can’t handle the weight for the long term. If you have seen ancient pictures of early horse riders they had to sit very far back near the hind legs. It took years and years of breeding to make it possible to ride where they ride now.

Zebras are mean. They bite a lot.

They also had to breed them to domesticate them and make them more docile and responsive to human commands. One problem is that zebras tend to bite. A lot.
