    Probably nothing.
    A good panic requires an attention span.

    We need an updated version using a compression of the history of the ACA instead of aliens.

    The only people who did panic were the ones who didn’t listen to the whole broadcast…panic was not widespread…

    I asked my grandfather about it when he was alive. He laughed at me. Thought the idiots who took it seriously were ….idiots

    Radios were the single point news source for those who had them, not all people did, gossip was the main source of information for many people, the same as now, only we now have augmented gossip. The half-life of gossip was longer then………………

    You know it still is one of the most scary things I have ever heard. But it is my Tradition on Halloween to listen to it every year. Just not Halloween kind of like it’s just not Christmas without watching at least one version of “A Christmas Carol” or ’A Charlie Brown Christmas."

    Look at the damage people ARE doing with Twitter – ruining reputations, weakening national security, etc. It’s too easy to tweet before you think, and it spreads everywhere rapidly.

    Well, that was in 1938 ! Then comes Roswell, NM in 1947 and has been covered up ever since !
    What would happen to religion (s) and Darwin believers if and when the Guv’ment EVER releases the truth of those days???

    @Jungfrau

    How do religion(s) figure in with a radio program or the Roswell fiasco?

    I didn’t mean to neglect newspapers as a source of information during this time period, the daily paper where available, was a good source and well worth the 2 cents per copy cost but doesn’t make as good a comparison to twits and gossip as radio does………….

    You should forgive Charles as he tends to be a bit brusque at times but he doen’t mean any harm. Although he seems to be of the opinion that ignorance is bliss at least for the average person he only wants them to be shielded from the harsh realities of life……….

    When media people do this it’s called editorializing and is protected free speech but the impact is the same as if the same observations were made by citizens who do it from a different prospective and who may not be as language fluent as the media types………… both types can have malicious intent. We can only hope that the readers are intelligent enough to see around the corners…………………
