Difficult topics are beyond Trudeau’s comprehension, all he can do is peddle hate.

Roger likely has the same problem with Non-Sequitor.

re: cubefarmer
.
unfortunately true.
.
Some years back the “roland hedly” character tried to claim the us had sent forces to central america 700+ times.
.
Let’s see. Counting grenada, it’s 2. The earlier one was when a nut from our country took over costa rica and we went down and kicked him out. (Cuba’s not central america, before anyone mentions that.)
.
Another strip had “quotes” from Gingrich. Except not one of them was a quote from Gingrich, having been said by other pundits and politicos.

Um where exactly did you get your history? Grenada is a small island in the Caribbean, just like Cuba. the other time we sent forces to Central America was Operation Just Cause in Panama, in 1989, when the US went after Manuel Noriega. And if you actually believe the facts from a cartoon character, then you might have bigger issues than a lack of geography and US military history.

If you’re basing your evaluation on Roland Hedly, who is notoriously incompetent by design (that is, for the sake of humor), then maybe you just don’t get humor.

The United States has ‘intervened’ in Central America considerably more than just twice. Hint: the United States Marine Corps invented dive bombing in… Nicaragua. (Look up Sandino. Yes, the man the Sandisitas were named for.) Chesty Puller, possibly the most famous Marine of all time (“Good night Chesty, whereever you are”) earned his first Navy Cross (and I’m quoting him) “Collecting taxes for the United Fruit Company” in Nicaragua about a decade after the USMC invented dive bombing. (There’s a reason Chesty never got a Medal of Honor, despite 5 Navy Crosses and deserving it several times: he had a really big mouth and was not afraid to use it. This pissed certain people off. Semper Fi, Chesty!) Teddy Roosevelt said, straight out “I stole Panama”. Columbia wouldn’t deal on making the Panama Canal, so Teddy subsidized a revolution in the Columbian province of Panama and sent some ‘assistance’. There’s lots more. Perhaps not 700, but certainly into three figures, and starting in the 19th century. Trudeau is a lot closer to being correct than cubefarmer is.

Seriously? You folks are arguing about Hedly being a stand-in for Trudeau? Oh my god, talk about exercises in misapplied wankerism

Our newspaper always hid Doonesbury. You’d never know which page it was going to be on, and some days it didn’t appear at all. Eventually I gave up looking for it.

Doonesbury was largely responsible for my becoming such a fan of comics in general at a young age
Any comic so subversive that it had to be hidden on the Editorial page just HAD to be read
I can’t even remember anymore why I started clipping comics from the newspaper and saving them, but the oldest comic in my archive of over 300,000 is a Doonesbury from January of 1978

Over the years Doonesbury went from a must-read for me to something I no longer wanted to read. Trudeau started taking the wrong position too insistently on too many things.

:
You label it hate when it does not agree with your ideology. It could be the truth but if you have a closed mind all you will see is hate. A growing problem in America, especially affecting those living in the Fox bubble.

Hate? Where? Not in Doonesbury.
Night-Gaunt49 said, about 11 hours ago
Trudeau was exaggerating somewhat but the USA since its inception have invaded the Americas over the centuries. Even claimed it as its own domain on influence. See the Monroe Doctrine.

As @William Weedman said, Grenada is also and island as Cuba, but you forgot about the invasion of Panama in 1989.
You also forgot the invasion of Nicaragua in 1912, the intervention that caused Panama to get independence from Colombia motivated by the US interest in the construction of the Canal (naval forces were sent though they didn’t disembark AFAIK) , and interventions in Honduras where US troops were sent in at least seven different times.
And those are just at the top of my head as they are related by being part of the “Banana Wars”.

Now you know how Obozo got elected. The brilliance is overwhelming.
