    How about a tactical nuke?
    Or the Atomic Annie?

    Just give ma a good “Horsie” any day … I can still raise a huge water column, and I’m 60 years old now.

    Never heard of a “Horsie”. Please describe it.
    Cannonballs and Can Openers are two of the fun dives I know of.

    That’s what we used to call a “Bellyflop”

    No such thing as a “tactical nuke.”

    @nosirrom

    Starts as a flat “dive” – horizontal with arms and legs flared. Arms and legs are pulled in just at point of entry into the water and then flared out again quickly just under the water surface. The effect is to create a hole on the surface of the water with the body (like a horizontal cannonball), then suck more water into it by flaring out so the water meets in the middle and is forced up into a plume.

    Timing is everything … pull in too late on hitting the water and it’s a giant (painful) belly-flop, flare too late after hitting the water and miss the extra displacement. You can “hear” a good one when you hit the water by the big “thump” as the water is forced up into the plume.

    “Getting old is compulsory … maturing is optional.”

    Cool! Wonder if I’m too old to master it. I have a few years on you.

    We used to do a “Can-Opener.” Like the cannon ball, but with one leg extended. Always got the HIGHEST splash!

    He either talks faster than the Micro Machine Man or falls really slowly. Could be either one in this comic.

    There most certainly is.

    Not in the sense of dives, but our tactical nuke was the LANCE missile (Which I worked on), and “Atomic Annie” was our cannon that fired a nuclear artillery shell.
