    Is this close to the Laughing Brook and Smiling Pool?
    Anybody else remember the books by Thorton W. Burgess?

    @RavennaAl

    I do remember Thornton Burgess, grew up about 5 miles from Laughing Brook, his residence.

    Place names linger on. Wall Street once had a wall (to separate the northern end of what was then New York City – or was it Niew Amsterdam – from the wilderness) . Coney Island was once an island, and yes, it had conies.
