I’m just surprised we haven’t seen product placement in strips for the sponsorship. Like you’ll see someone on tv blatently drinking a certain soda with the label clearly spun so the audience can see. Or a certain car brand being shown driving down the street in a show to showcase the car.

Newspaper comics aren’t as popular as the used to be, so they probably don’t think there’s enough money to be made. Not to mention comics are seen as kids entertainment, so they have to follow certain rules when it comes to advertising.
Jason has, however, mentioned new and upcoming video game consoles and games in the strip here and there, and you’ll see them holding a controller that’s blatantly the controller for a certain console.
