…imposed population controls in 1987 to 2020 estimates are a male surplus of ( are you sitting down ) 250,000,000 . Female citizens are running for hiding places . Competition for mates in China would make a wild reality TV show
Ron, you’re spot on, but there are worse problems on the horizon. I’ve worked teaching adults so I got to talk to a lot of single women. Way more than half don’t ever want to get married because they would rather just take care of themselves. So a whole lot of men are going to be up a creek sans paddle!

Yeah, well, let government run everybody’s lives and THAT’S what you get! CHAOS!!

ejcapulet —“up a creek” yes , yes and with no resservation one could add – in a very , very cold and lonely bed ! ( up a creek is a very accurate rendering )
JFri – Amen – CHAOS then slips into bedlam , which quickly festers into pandemonium . Bingo World War Three . $5.00 to a doughnut hole , the U.S.A. will be blamed .
Is this a conspiracy by China to spawn a 250,000,000 frustrated man Army ? THEY would sure have a common reason for violence . All those pent up hormones start rocking out , we all better find a place to hide .

As long as the single females don’t breed.Choose 1 single mother works two jobs ignoring child raising duties. 2 Single mother stays home with children while collecting setting example for next generation. 3 Single mother sues school system cause Johny can’t read. 4 Single mother goes on reality TV. Wonder why so many animal stay together for life?

I think it has more to do with social structures inhibiting women in suffocating roles than anything to do with the government. You could argue that those girls are more liberated than they are in the West.

Ana_D: the situation in China is a direct result of a gov’t policy, “one child per family”, intended to stabilize population growth. The Law of Unintended Consequences kicks in here: given a choice, the parents would keep a boy over a girl as the heir and the provider in old age. The ruling party didn’t foresee that traditional imperative having such an effect.
There’s nothing inherently suffocating to women about the social role involved, even if the results of trying to overrule it were prejudicial and devastating. People were designed to have multiple children and to be patrilinear, whether many of us Westerners want to admit it today or not.

ejcapulet: You make it sound as though men were all dying to get married, and many women were trying to avoid it. Heck, if ALL women would avoid it, GREAT! Then we men could happily flit from flower to flower, as the good lord intended - lol

The security over at the SOTU Sanatorium and Interpersonal Rehabilitation Center is atrocious. Plus these patients aren’t making any progress whatsoever. What are they doing over there?
In other news, the way the Tomb Raider series has gone and accounting for Jason aging, the only reason he’d ever play it now is to snark on it, like this guy:

Huge army? Politics? Ha ha ha ha ha…. Oh please!
Really, in China, men have enormous pressure put on them to get married, the only thing that takes up more energy than finding a wife is working themselves to death. If Jason were Chinese, he wouldn’t be running - even at that age. Poor kid.

ejcapulet – Truly the most extreme case of mans inhumanity to man I can fathom . Congratulations is your hubby from that age group ? I was thinking one is one , you know the longest trip starts with the first step . Have you by any chance come across data estmating the percentage of psychoneurosis cases in this unfortunate group of lads ? ejcapulet I apologise for this , what I see as a whit of humor . All the best to you & yours .
PS I’m going to get off this rocking horse before I fall off
