these comics weren’t written for the internet….they were written for AMERICAN newspapers!!!!!

That’s true. I’m Swedish, and we don’t celebrate anything special on 4th of July (except in my family, because it happened to be my grandmother’s birthday). We don’t celebrate St Patrick’s day or Thanksgiving either, and even though we’re familiar with Valentine’s day and Halloween, they’re not as important to us as they are to you Americans. But I have no problems with reading comics about these holidays, because I understand, that the writers and artists are Americans. But since we celebrate Mother’s day and Father’s day at different dates than what you Americans do (we celebrate Father’s day in November), it feels a bit funny to read comic strips about it at the “wrong” dates. I guess I just have to be grateful, that we celebrate Christmas and Easter at the same dates.

I belive the artist of this strip is canadian I may be wrong so for there to be no fourth of july strip would make scense. Of course every country in the world has a 4th of july they just dont celabrate it
jackofstories said, 4 months ago
No, he’s not Canadian. He’s done 4th of July strips in the past. Possibly just didn’t have a good gag for it.

Wow… Hugh, did you get Barack’s autograph on the Apologypalooza Tour ‘09?
The fact is that throughout its history the United States has done more to defend the defenseless, feed the poor, and cure the sick than any other nation on the planet.
We have made our share of errors & and had our blemishes. However, we work to correct those instances.
As the strip is PRODUCED in the U.S. it wouldn’t be unreasonable to have some expectation that today’s strip would have a theme based on the establishment of the greatest nation on the Earth…

Get Paige and play rock, paper, scissors.

If Paige is running the lawn mower then everybody else had better be scared. Jason would get run over on purpose.

Fall into line! Big Brother is watching! Free Speech is not unreasonable even in a comic.

No, play Rock/Paper/Scissors/Lizard/Spock….
(refer to The Big Bang Theory and/or ThinkGeek)

This is very similar to an earlier comic where Jason and Peter were blaming each other for a broken window, and then Andy said if they couldn’t agree then they could both pay for it. So they said that Paige did it.
Anyone else remember that one?

Paige should have a turn. Isn’t she a liberated female?

Evidently, liberation is overrated. Just ask Manuel Zelaya. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
Oh, here’s an idea: make him mow the lawn. ;)

I’d rather read a funny strip that is not 4th of July related, than read a lame one that ties in a holiday. Besides, this is a democracy and the cartoonists are free to draw what they want. If every cartoon praised Independence Day, then I’d start packing my bags and heading for …um, well, I’ll get back to you on that!
