@ burleigh2, that is the result of one research paper published in the Lancet, the same journal that wrote mercury in vaccines caused Autism. There is a more recent paper that contradicts it saying recent studies show a reduction, that the previous research did not take into consideration Blacks who suffer a higher proportion of PCA related health concerns.
I know it is pretty controversial, but when I was diagnosed, I took time to research it and learn my options. I also have a family that has a significant history of various cancers, and a grandfather who died of PCA, so I would not completely rule out having ones PSA checked, but when doing it, discuss it with your doctor, not the surgeon. If you are 65+, a change in PSA is probably not going to result in a PCA related death.
