I can see Michael’s point. When you hug in public it attracts attention, when you attract attention to your public hugs then people might look at you more carefully, when people look at you more carefully they might notice you are a kid with a horrible comb over, when they notice you are a kid with horrible comb over they might assume you are a cancer patient.

Don’t have people think you are cancer patient. Get rid of public hugging, and upgrade to DIRECTV.

Possibly. The Marine Corps Manual, which I received in ’67 as a recruit, specifically mentioned that holding hands in public and while in uniform is discouraged. Also, the “escorts” servicemen “rented” while on R&R in the Far East would not allow touching in public. But true, some of us boys are kinda shy in these matters.

    Lynn’s Notes:
If nothing else, travelling gave me an opportunity to get out of the house — a house in which I often felt like a prisoner.

When my son was that age,I thought he wouldn’t want me to hug him in public so I stopped. Then he would look at me as if to ask,“don’t you love me anymore?” So I started back. He was never embarrassed to hug me in public. Now that he is grown and has his own family, he still does it when he gets a chance. So did his step-son when he was little.

Well, that might just creep me out a little. Seeing a couple of Marines holding hands in public would be a little more than strange.

Now that’s a good, firm handshake! For some reason, I don’t know why, my mother and I never hugged or shook hands. Just one of those things I guess. On my mother’s death bed, no one else came – they stayed home and drank, I held my mother’s hand for the first time. But she was in a coma by then.

I like nothing better than seeing a couple of ladies holding hands.
