Perhaps Elly has it wrong. Perhaps all Mr. Patterson needs is a nice hug from his daughter to make him feel better.

I think it’s Michael who is advising Lizzie in the third panel. I agree though. A hug from his kids couldn’t hurt. ;)

Everybody is acting caring here. Move along. Nothing to see. :-)

I know… there’s always a group that has to overanalyze this comic and suck the humor out of it.
Hey, we all have bad days. Sometimes we need a hug, sometimes we need to be left alone, sometimes both.

Good job to Lynn for flipping the perspective in panels 3 and 4, you can see John’s reverse silhouette in panel 3. Nice touch!

    Lynn’s Notes:
When you work with the public all day you save your rants for the folks at home. I worked at home and ranted elsewhere. Perhaps this was a good thing!

With my dad, bugging out eyes preceded a good pop on the fanny if you got in range.

Micheal’s words are good advice for us all.

I own a copy of “The Bestest Present” and it is very well done. It is a very nice representation of this strip.

When I was growing up, I learned at a young age that when Dad’s forehead went red, he was not in the kind of mood kids want to interrupt.

Elly was not the one advising Liz to leave Daddy alone

After 6 years and three children my father left one day. I barely knew him. When I met him again later he was a stranger with a familiar face. He remained one.
