    If he stays ‘til morning will he get breakfast before being released ?  A night in jail isn’t complete without a free meal.

    Poor thing. I hate to see a such large dog confined to a cage.

    At least he’s looking more confused than worried.

    The last time I had to bail out an escapee, it was $75 bucks – and that was a really long time ago.

    That has got to be ‘Farley’. In that household, he looks confused over 90% of the time ! !

    As long as he doesn’t think this is some fun game to play every time they go outside…

    I have a dog like that. That is, getting out was a game. He has an acre to run on, inside fences, but getting out was a lot of fun til I chained him to a post in the middle of the yard for a whole day. Then he knew it was more fun to stay in. That acre is plenty big enough.

    $20 does seem like too light a fine to encourage the dog owner to act differently.

    “big, shaggy”? How about “purebred, Old English Sheepdog”? “Big and shaggy” is a description which could apply to a lot of dogs. Plus we already know from many comic strips that Farley does not actually respond to “Farley!” I expect that every pound Elly calls would tell her that they have her dog if she is using that description.

    @SUSAN NEWMAN

    @Susan Newman: You do realize that this strip’s character of Elly is based on Lynn (the author of the strip), right?! Comic strips aren’t your personal dumping ground. If you can’t say something nice, it is not necessary to share your comment.

    Don’t forget…she’ll yell at John for not getting Farley the license and collar, too.

    Thing is, sheepdawg81, if you’re going to put yourself out there in public (whether it’s a politician or a cartoonist), you’re fair game for criticism. In the USA, they call it that pesky First Amendment thingy. Let Susan be free to express her opinion and leave the censorship to the North Koreans and Cubans.
