I have a feeling all people who try to give up smoking go through this phase. It’s exceedingly hard to stop something you may have done for decades, especially something so addictive. Although I’ve never had this issue, I certainly feel for him and all those who try so hard to conquer this habit.

Anyone notice that cars no longer have ashtrays or cigarette lighters?

    Yes…
And they (rather cleverly) re-purpose the lighter sockets as power outlets!!

What a terrible addiction to kick. Poor guy just needs to hole up somewhere with someone watching him so he can detox.

I’m sure you’re right. And though I’m a militant anti-smoker I can be sympathetic. Anyone who’s tried to give up anything can. Ever been on a diet??

How about some nicotine gum or a patch (or ten).

Me too! Got about nine years quit.
I started smoking when smokes were “safe” & “in vogue.”
Can’t imagine why young’uns smoke nowadays.

Anything that society frowns upon, the kids are determined to do. Movie actors and actresses
all smoked When I was growing up; smoking was considered ‘sexy’ and ‘cool’. And yes, it is very addictive — I smoked for 60 years and tried many times to quit. It’s been 10 years since I finally succeeded. Now I have COPD. The kids who think it won’t happen to them are kidding themselves.

Probably wouldn’t help. Read about one cancel patient who was seen holding a cigaret up to their tracheotomoy opening so they could still suck down the smoke. I guess that addiction is really, really powerful.

Sadly, I’ve been there, done that. I appreciate the awareness of how hard this addiction is to conquer. Nicotine is THE most addictive drug. More addictive than crystal meth. Cigarette companies should be prosecuted.

Cig lighter sockets were being used as power sockets back in the 70’s, at least. Even in the 60’s you could plug a mobile CB radio in it. That was the day of transistors, but way before the microchip. But as with then, so today.
