hsawirae, I wish this site had a “Like” button. Well, consider yourself liked.

Personally, I’m glad the site has no “Like” button. It forces you to think at least a little while making a comment, instead of simply clicking a button to mindlessly say “kewl”.

I was thinking of the current state of the economy.
There are plenty of people with degrees who are out of work.
Working at the dump probably pays better than flipping burgers somewhere.

“to university”. Ah, yes, I forgot they’re not in the good old U.S.of A. They’re “in hospital” there too.

I was just telling my wife the other day that some of my most treasured toys were things I found, especially if they were unique toys I had never seen before

Still have a few in my “never going to grow up” box out in the garage

One day we will not need a dump. If we can develop far in advance and not go down another road. We will need to build things to last or to be recycled.

My father was a chemical engineer and back in the 50s he said that dumps ought to employ chem majors to make sure different chemicals did not mix. He was right.

It goes “zip” when it moves, and “bop” when it stops…

Here it’s ok to say ‘go to college’ so why not ‘go to university’?

    " ‘. . . why not ‘go to university’?"

Because it’s one of the vagaries of our language, which has as many vagaries as fate.

If ‘go to university’ is Canadian, how does that translate into American?

At least the meaning is still CLEAR!!!!! The “good old U.S. of A.” has their own brand of English, as does Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and all the other Commonwealth nations. Why not comment on the different dialects in the "good old U.S. of A.?

One day we will not need a dump. … . We will need to build things to last ….

We can’t build things to last. Look at all the people you would put out of work because manufacturers couldn’t make extra money selling worthless replacements.
