A cousin of mine posted on Facebook one time his daughter having only hog dog bun; not a fan of the hot dog frankfurter part yet she is.

Mike might not eat hot dogs either, were he to see that prep process!

I am glad to see Grandpa Jim didn’t put those giant fish into the garden. I’ll take them, if Michael doesn’t want them.

Something fish has in common with sausage.

Being from the area that this strip is currently set in, I wonder what species of fish those are suppose to be. You’d NEVER put a salmon in the garden, unless it was already stinking. :P If it’s a perch, then they are too big, dogfish? they aren’t prepped the same way regular fish are. Hmmmm.

Saw a video on cleaning gar. It involved using a Sawzall, sheet metal shears and wearing mesh gloves.

Take Mike on a tour of a hot dog or sausage making factory. He’ll either gladly opt for the fish, or become a vegan.

It’s good for him to see this. It’s not like meat naturally comes in a plastic wrapped package.

Look, if you have to remove the scales, it’s best just to filet the thing, no reason to gut it, cut off it’s head and fins.

The skin of many species is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids. You are taking away lots of nutrition when you fillet, not to mention the flesh between the bones that is lost forever. I never filet.

We always did the scaling and the gutting outside in a washtub. Mom would have pitched a hissy if Dad and I cleaned fish in the kitchen. Besides, if it was catfish, we had to nail their heads to a post, cut the skin around the head and peel the skin off with pliers.

Shoot, around here where I live you fish for perch in the stock tanks. After you lope off the head, tail and fins then scale and gut you end up with a piece of fish the size of your palm. Bread the thing and semi deep fry, eat every thing but the bones.

Then again there is catfish too.

    Lynn’s Notes:
Actually, Aaron took a bite of the fish, and after seeing his expression, Mom made him a hot dog.
