    A cousin of mine posted on Facebook one time his daughter having only hog dog bun; not a fan of the hot dog frankfurter part yet she is.

    Mike might not eat hot dogs either, were he to see that prep process!

    Something fish has in common with sausage.

    Saw a video on cleaning gar. It involved using a Sawzall, sheet metal shears and wearing mesh gloves.

    Take Mike on a tour of a hot dog or sausage making factory. He’ll either gladly opt for the fish, or become a vegan.

    It’s good for him to see this. It’s not like meat naturally comes in a plastic wrapped package.

    Look, if you have to remove the scales, it’s best just to filet the thing, no reason to gut it, cut off it’s head and fins.

    @rnmontgomery

    The skin of many species is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids. You are taking away lots of nutrition when you fillet, not to mention the flesh between the bones that is lost forever. I never filet.

    I was thinking the same thing. The gutting was done at the dock and the scaling in the yard out back.

    I think I would go for a hot dog if I had to WATCH a fish being scaled & gutted!

    Fish are cleaned outside; who wants to scrape fish scales off a wall?

    That would be your loss!

    My husband cleans them in the sink. I fry ’em in butter, we eat. Yum.

    I suspect I’m older than you are ;-)

    When I was a kid I caught a seabass that size and shape from the Crescent Beach (Vancouver suburb) pier.
