Instead of playing it, he’s playing with it!

The PDQ Bach joke about Beethoven comes to mind. “He was responsible for the master’s deafness: from Beethoven’s habit of stuffing coffee grounds in his ears when PDQ came along.”

It’s wonderful that the Canadian Brass is still around after over 40 years.

    Lynn’s Notes:
Aaron did learn to play a few pieces on the trumpet. Through perseverance and some threatening, his junior high school music teacher succeeded in placing him in the school band, where he suffered along with the rest of the uncommitted until summer came.

I remember my high school band teacher. His name was Rick Marino and he was a character. He instilled some good habits and values in us that will never go away. When he retired, he was replaced by one of the band students from my brother’s graduating class. As Elsie said, they are Special! I think of him and his red socks every once in a while when I hear a piece of music that we played.

I kind of get the impression Lynn Johnston didn’t think there were any committed members of her son’s school band. I loved band when I was in school and I thought there were a lot of committed kids in the band.

From a horn player to a writer, do any of us know what is in store for us in the future?
