These comments could make Elly feel imperfect and unwanted. John is acting so uncaring about her feelings. They should both see a marriage counsellor.

Clearly, John is familiar with the term, ‘Too much car for you, man.’ Ha!

He’s smart to avoid such people. Heartbreak city. It really doesn’t pay to ask out someone who has “perfect” looks. In private work with the public and in public service, I’ve only once a woman with “perfect looks” who didn’t “trade on them”, with all the selfishness that goes with that.
As indelicate as it was, the phrase used in the 1990s was “a beautiful woman with a dog’s personality” in various forms, some obscene, some not, but quite true. Such a person assumes that men exist to please her. The common wisdom was “stay away.”

Is it me, or does their marriage seem…troubled since the reboot?

Most of the time their minor conflicts don’t seem funny — they seem like symptoms of big problems.

I absolutely understand where John is coming from.

John is so childish and immature, doesn’t have a clue about himself or relationships or women, or anything. mayble Elly liked his childishness/stupidity enough to marry him in spite of his idiocy. but i’d get tired and hurt enough to tell the stupid sob to grow up. after i slapped him silly for being so insensitive. but still, you’d want a better role model for your children.

i guess it’s true that most men hardly ever grow up in to rational, thinking creatures, much less adult hood.

Maybe I’m misinterpreting this but didn’t he just say that he feels comfortable with Elly? If that’s a bad thing than I’m a bad man.

That’s because she wouldn’t put up with your baloney as much as your wife would!
I know this is a comic, but this is ridiculous how disrespectful he is being to his wife.

Yeah, Jon would be a lot better off suppressing his thoughts and feelings. Keep them under wraps where they can fester and grow, maybe lead to a REAL affair outside of his marriage. You and Elly would all appreciate that.
