    In other words, he’d have done it whenever he felt like getting around to it — he just didn’t have enough time to feel like getting around to it!

    He’ll have enough time now she’s home to give him “motivation”!

    when my middle child was in HIGH SCHOOL, I told her to clean her room one day and left her to get it done while I ran to town, when I came back 2 or 3 hours later it was worse than before because she had emptied her dresser and closet into the middle of the floor to " " start from the beginning" "……What a mess and it took her 2 days to get it back to the way it was before she started cleaning. lol

    she is now married with 2 children and is always complaining about how messy their rooms are. What goes around comes around.

    A friend posted the other day: “I can’t clean my room because I keep getting distracted by all the cool stuff I find.”

    Lynn’s Notes:
    I recently visited my son in his west coast apartment, and was gratified to see that he lives in a clean, tidy, and attractive environment. Amazing. After all that nagging, I really DID have an impact on my lethargic son… and it only took 30 years!

    @Jean

    It seems instructions were needed in how to clean things up.

    So typical. My mom would say the same thing but of course I put off doing what she asked til the last minute rather than doing it right away and being done with it.

    Just curiosity – isn’t he cleaning up HER mess that she made to create the posters . . . I don’t think she has the right to complain that it is not done yet and just be thankful that he was willing to help out in the first place. :-)

    You can’t go into town, and come back in 15 minutes! I’d say it was more like 40 minutes! which is still not enough time to clean up!

    Yesterday’s strip in combination with today’s strip makes the joke into “Elly is a slave driver and unreasonable.” Even taken by itself, it tends to that impression. However, if you consider the possibility that Elly did allow Michael enough time to clean up, then it means the joke is “Elly and John left Michael alone for a lot more than 15 or 40 minutes.” It’s lose-lose for Elly either way, and another joke whose essence is poor parenting — the staple of this comic strip.

    Yeah but I’m wondering where John and the pretty girl from town are right now?

    He’s probably picking Lizzie up from the neighbor’s house. Elle probably was worried about Michael so went dashing in leaving John to pick up Lizzie.
