Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Reverse psychology and intermittent positive reinforcement ….two secret weapons any one can use to effect change in their life. Lol Ellie’s using both on John. He hasn’t a chance.

Not for about five more years. April wasn’t conceived in February; she was conceived in July (since she was born the following April, which is how she got her name), and she wasn’t born until Michael was 14 and Elizabeth was 9.

If it’s time to practice for Valentines Day, I better stop and get ice cream on the way home.

Yeah that’s what I thought. She probably wants his help with something that he ought to be doing anyway but the only way to get it is to use these kinds of moves on him.

Wow – what a bunch of cynics! Marriage is a perpetual work-in-progress, and takes daily effort of the part of both parties. If more folks at least tried to show appreciation for their partners on a regular basis the divorce rate would go down. I speak from the experience of a 30 year till-death-did-us-part marriage BTW

I don’t have any notes for this one!

Of course that is the kind of child logic one would expect. It is wrong but it is entertaining.
