Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Sounds about normal to me. Murphy’s Law and all that.

Good thing she is wearing that bath robe.

Yep. That’s normal.
Or decide not to shave and everyone shows up.

Even though I live alone, when it’s warm enough to walk around in my underwear, inevitably,, somebody will come to the door. That’s why I keep my trousers closeby, for just such an occasion.

@Nabuquduriuzhur
I didn’t know Elly had to shave.

Lynn’s Notes:
I can’t add anything to this punch line – other than to say that nothing has changed: the day I decide to get dressed late and to wear no make-up, is the day that all the delivery guys show up! This is something I hope a good iPhone application will some day eradicate.

I shave only in Movember (then only once at the start of the month).
Beards are great … especially for a lazy b… like me.

And Ellie needs to wash her robe, or get a new one. If the doorbell rings, slosh water on your hair and put a towel over it. Maybe they’ll call to come over next time.

You should have a good idea of when to expect some of these people. But with kids you never know so you should just get dressed even if it’s jeans and a tee shirt.

had a jammies day this past week but thank goodness my husband warned me that someone was coming over to give us a estimate on a remodel so I was not caught in my jammies. Usually I just don’t answer the door, keep all the blinds closed, and the TV off, just veg and enjoy the quiet.

This is the reason why I always get dressed. It keeps people from coming over unannounced. lol

For what it’s worth. I DID find a solution. At least it works for me. I sleep in what I plan to wear tomorrow. Okay — I didn’t say it was a perfect solution!
