Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Female logic?

Definitely female logic. A friend of my wife once bought a huge bag of dog food. Her husband said, “Honey, we don’t even have a dog.” “Yes, but it was ON SALE!”

“Then he could learn chainsaw carving”.
After he loses a limb, and not from the tree, you can call him “Lefty” or “Stumpy”.
Get him a lathe instead. :)

It might be useful for trimming hedges, no?

Ah, the gift dilemma. If they really want something, odds are they have it. If it’s a hobby, you can’t get the right thing. So, either you buy them replacement clothing, food or drink, or something they tell you exactly what they want, or you get them something they don’t have, and hope they discover later that they wanted it after all.

Not at all suitable for hedge trimming.

It’s not “female” logic because there are men who do the same thing buying gifts for their wife and children.

I have a chainsaw, but my wife won’t let me have a wood chipper. Too many late night movies?
