Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Fred Willis is not all that bright. To bring the ‘other lady’ out in public and expect to not be seen. Maybe he wants to be seen for some reason.

Some men aren’t too bright. I know a woman who took her children out to dinner while her husband was supposed to be out-of-town, and they ran into her husband and his paramour at the restaurant. I guess out-of-town didn’t mean leaving the city limits – just their house, and that move was soon permanent.

Though neither are some women. Like the one I was dating who then started posting stuff on facebook about the other guy she was seeing.

Lynn’s Notes:
I was certain I was watching an affair in progress, and, indignant, I wanted to confront the guilty pair!

Oh, they’re both bad. John wants to move closer to get a better look?? Creepy. Either be direct and go say hi, or ignore them and enjoy your own dinner.

Yes come on …don’t they have anything else to talk about or is that the problem ?

Think about it. If you had gone out to dinner in an elegant restaurant, and saw one of your friends out cheating on his wife, wouldn’t you obsess a bit about it, too? It would be nearly impossible to ignore the situation, and it would dominate the conversation.
