Oh, so your own children are considered as “the public”?

Ha,ha,ha. I felt the same way when my own parents did this in front of me and my brother.

When my parents were being “icky” we left them alone, because it only happened after they were making up after a fight.

    That’s normal for kids.

On the other hand, they need to see dad and mom treat each other with affection.

    Lynn’s Notes:
I rarely saw my parents kissing. Sometimes they held hands but it was a discreet show of affection — which was quickly over if someone drew attention to it. Still, they were very romantic. They thought about each other and did things for each other easily and naturally. They were husband and wife, but they were also the best of friends. I often made fun of the two of them and their mushy ways, but in the end, I wish for all the world I could have had a marriage like theirs.

I’ve NEVER understood the idea that kids think their parents’ kissing is “icky” – my Dad would get up from the supper table almost every night and give my Mom a big hug and kiss right there in the kitchen, and my sister and I thought it was a natural part of life at home. Later, I realized how blessed we were to have parents that felt that way about each other.

I’ve never seen my parents show any affection to each other, and they are within a touch of their 50th anniversary. We once went on vacation with another family that did, and it was amazing to me that they didn’t dislike each other!
