somehow, that’d be a benefit if you’re in a deaf school… unless the teacher has good hearing

I had a teacher who could smell peppermints from the far end of the classroom. She didn’t need to hear a wrapper being opened.

I don’t think the wrapper is how you got busted, Michael!

I HAD those types of desks and it wasn’t easy not to make noise with them! The hinges for the top would ALWAYS creak!

Kids always think they can get away with something when it’s so obvious to the adults. LOL!

Obviously, there aren’t that many smart people around. This election should prove that.

I have to say that 5 minutes off isn’t very much of a punishment.

5 minutes is an eternity for a kid!

It is impossible to create a wrapper that is silent.

    Lynn’s Notes:
The other place where a silent candy wrapper is needed is church! Mom never minded the peppermints Dad brought so we kids would stay awake during the sermon… she was embarrassed by the sounds of the wrapper!

It is if you are a kid, and if it’s off your recess time, that’s pretty big!!

Right, 5 minutes to him will seem like a long time, but 5 minutes from the teacher isn’t very long. I would have given him 15. But not for just eating a leftover piece of Halloween candy. Something more disruptive to the class maybe. For this I would have just pointed out that if he doesn’t have a piece for everyone, don’t touch that candy while in class. I was made to toss a lot of pieces of gum while sitting in class. That gum helped me work better, too!

I too would like to see a silent wrapper. There’s always a jerk at the Symphony trying to be sneaky and making the wrapper crinkle for half an hour.

Remember, recess is also the teachers break. so she is also punishing herself.
