    I don’t know about wolves in urban Canada but I read an article recently about urban coyotes carrying off small pet animals in the middle of a city of almost a million people. They adapt, those coyotes.

    Portland Oregon started getting coyotes in 1995. They asked the State of Oregon to deal with it, since coyotes are an animal that is regulated by the state. The state punted and tried to claim it was Portland’s job. Fifteen years later… Coyotes are in every major neighborhood of Portland. Lots of “food” for them, especially since the City in the early 1990s got the bright idea to get rid of feral cats and the City was soon overrun by the Norway Rat and the Black Rat. At least something is eating them now, but the coyotes are also eating people’s pets.
