Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Hm….the first day of one of my CJ classes, we had to stand up, introduce ourselves, what we want to do after college, what animal we would most like to be, and where we are from.

Writers are like pumps – you have to prime them first.

“6th sense, superstitions, premonition and fate”? Things have changed a lot since the last time I took a writing class.

Sounds like the teacher was introducing many concepts that help one tap one’s imagination. That does not come natural to everyone.
John is displaying a common misconception that writing (or art, dance, music etc) is not a real job, and therefore doing it is not real work.

This is the same clod who suggested that she take a remedial cooking class so he could eat a decent meal for once; he wants bang for her buck, not free association.
