Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

They are. Every time my GF is having issues, she calls me. I dont know why she does, but oh well. So yes, ALL girls are weird.

Tsk tsk mroberts88 - you can’t base your ALL girls theory on your experiences with your ONE girlfriend! Why? you ask? Because maybe it’s just HER that’s weird!!! That’s why! LOL :o))
EarlWash said, about 1 month ago
All girls are weird because they don’t understand “guy’ things.
OpenWings said, about 1 month ago
EarlWash depends on which ‘guy’ things you’re referring to. Name your top three….. but keep it clean! :o)

Guys are just as weird to us as we are to them.

If you boys think girls are weird, take a look at Lio.

ALL GIRLS are weird, because they don’t like movies like Fast & Furious with the amazing cars and hot babes …
Avolunteer said, about 1 month ago
SOME girls do like movies like that Allen; and many are engineers and scientists. It it society that divides us, not thought processes. And any stay at home father would have been just as upset about muddy feet!
lightenup said, about 1 month ago
That’s right, Avolunteer. I’m a girl and I like car movies (and I appreciate beautiful women) and I subscribed to Motor Trend for 15 years (no time to read anymore) and I majored in manufacturing in college and I’m now in the computer industry. I am faster than my husband when we go shopping, and I’m very practical and logical. But I still don’t think my husband understands me totally because woman in general are just more complex. (BTW, I think boys/men are easy to understand, but I’ll get into trouble if I go there. ;-))

Can I get a witness?! You can walk in the door, with a matter of great urgency that requires immediate discussion, and all you get in response is, “Wipe your feet!” Sheesh……….

Girls are weird. My girlfriend doesn’.t understand why my subscription to MAXIM hasn’t run out in the year and a half she’s lived here.
Ash said, about 1 month ago
So, Mr.Roberts, if your very own girlfriend is having issues she SHOULDN’T call her boyfriend, which is you? Great way to get dumped.
csscougar said, about 1 month ago
@ EarlWash: by the same token, one could argue that guys are weird because they don’t understand girl things. Just imagine how boring the world would be if we weren’t constantly trying to figure each other out!

all people are weird, no matter the gender.
Ji2m said, about 1 month ago
Girls aren’t weird as much as they are complicated.
klamarre said, about 1 month ago
I agree with Coffee-Turtle. I am far from a typical woman. I like fast cars, building and fixing things and I hate to shop and spend money. My husband likes to shop and will spend all of our money if allowed. I also love to cook and hate to clean. I am highly emotional, though. I think that is the difference that comes across the most between men and women. Men do not understand the emotional responses women make and women expect men to feel like they do. I can see the logic, I just can’t control the emotions.
The_Ol_Goaler said, about 1 month ago
Coffee-Turtle nailed it! (Of course, I know I’m weird – hockey goalies are weird by definition! Mrs. Goaler is likewise weird – she married ME!)
summerdog said, about 1 month ago
At least Mike only said “weird”.
Lynn has announced that she is getting ready to release for sale, the 6 FBORFW animated, holiday TV specials on DVD very soon.

The old Venus & Mars thing - I think it’s perception. I love action movies and chic flicks. I don’t like shopping and avoid it unless absolutely necessary. However, since my husband is an IT guy, I leave all the computer stuff to him. Find your strengths and share…. but yes, I get ticked if someone walks on my clean floor with dirty shoes.

It seems I’ve spent my life learning about women.
Know a lot more than I did as a kid.
Don’t think I will ever know enough.
I know what I like.
Joe Allen Doty said, about 1 month ago
Sometimes, when married women have problems with their husbands, they either their gay male friends for advice or they talk to them when they see them.
I know that because they have asked me for advice about understanding men.
Of course, in my case, it didn’t hurt for me to have had quite a few courses in psychology and counseling.
If the Industrial Revolution of the latter 1800s had not had a major effect on American males, men would probably have a better understanding of women.
Hyper-macho men don’t like to admit that many of the feelings and emotions they have are very similar to what women have.
Ignorant Larry McMurtry added women to his screen play version script of Annie Proulx’s original “Brokeback Mountain” story. He claimed that women understood emotion more than men. He admitted that in a Time magazine interview.
Apparently, he didn’t know gay men very well, although he claimed to have a gay relative. The two main characters of Ms. Proulx’s story, Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist, lied about having relationships with women the last time the 2 men were together on a camping trip.

Girls are weird! Period!
Well … except for the “odd” one who do no fit the stereotypical mold. I know a few like these.
mroberts88 said, about 1 month ago
Ash, I never said that, so try again. Comic-Nut is right, and so is Coffee Turtle.

no matter which gender you are, you will never understand the other one and will consider them weird.
especially the girls.

LOL!! Weird is what makes the world go ‘round!
EarlWash said, about 1 month ago
At least one of the things where guys think girls are weird is when they get together and talk about hair and nails.
Thats when we merely roll our eyes back and say ‘Oh brother”.
It has also been said, and it’s probably true I’m sure, “If it weren’t for woman, man would be happy hunkered over in a cave”.
Maizing said, about 1 month ago
I’m not weird…
…I’m strange.
Llywus said, about 1 month ago
Yes, all girls are weird. But we can all use a little weirdness in our lives, so that’s a good thing!
comixavier said, about 1 month ago
From the third panel, my stepmother is like that. I even have to wear my garden shoes than my basketball when having to take out the garbage.
Sometimes I find my five stepsisters weird. I only have my flesh-and-blood older brother for siblings.
scribbler67 said, about 1 month ago
Although my wife disagrees, I think I’m the only normal person around. Everyone else is weird. :)
howtheduck said, about 1 month ago
Considering Dee was talking like an adult yesterday and spit at Mike for no reason, Elizabeth appears as a silhouette only, and Elly is shrieking at basically nothing; I would say Mike has made his point. Those are some weird girls.
RinaFarina said, about 1 month ago
@lightenup, do you give lessons? in understanding men?
@doctortoon, if you “know what you like”, that’s enough!
hmm - then would it follow that it should be enough for me to know what I like?…
Rmom said, about 1 month ago
“Normal is only a setting on a dryer.”
When my sons ask why I’m giving them a “weird” look, I usually reply, “Since I’m weird, what other kind of look would I give?” They can’t seem to argue with that logic.
If there isn’t any mystery between the sexes, it wouldn’t be near as much fun exploring!
Susan001 said, about 1 month ago
Don’t judge all girls by your mother, Mike. Not all of them scream their heads off over everything.
legaleagle48 said, about 1 month ago
All I can say is, thank God I’m gay! ;)
Mouko said, about 1 month ago
If girls are weird, what does that make boys? Bizarre? :)
No matter how you look at it, everyone’s a little… quirky. Gender has nothing to do with it.
