   That’s the most genuinely happy face I’ve seen Elly sport for a long time!! You go girl…. and enjoy it while it lasts. Alas, a week goes by all too quickly. sigh

   Elly’s going from one ‘job’ to another. From one ‘boss’ (the kids) to another (John). But having been both a stay at home Mom and a working Mom, at least the job out of the house has breaks, lunches, paid sick days, vacations, etc.

    A reliable baby-sitter is to a mother what a friday is to a 9-to-5 full-time worker, sort of but what a nice sense of elation on her face!

    For once, Elly isn’t being eaten up by guilt and is honest with herself.
    Working with John may be no picnic, but at least she’ll be out of the house and among adult company.
    That’s what “freedom” means to her.

    For those of you wanting to tell the difference between new material and reprint, today’s strip has several good examples of the new material art style:

    
    
    1. Missing body parts. Characters drawn without eyes or a mouth or a left arm.
    
    
    2. Disembodied voices from other rooms.
    
    
    3. Wonky perspectives like the second panel where it looks like Mike is on one staircase, while Elly and Lizzie are on another parallel staircase.
    
    
    4. Characters running who appear to be hovering in the air above their shadows.
    
    

    If you see these kinds of things, the material is new and not a reprint.

    howtheduck - about #3. I see what you mean however, it could be the stairs leading to the family basement which would then make sense. But your probably right in that it is a mistake.
