Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Just eat the thing! Jeez! One donut won’t make you fat; a dozen, though…

Will she or won’t she?

Enjoy. Don’t obsess. Then go jogging. Or chase a small kid around the house.

Split it with the kids. They’ll be thrilled and you’ll only eat a third of it.
WORDMAN33 said, 3 months ago
Eat it, otherwise the kids will be fighting over it and who want’s to be with two kids fighting?

pick it up, drop in toilet. then your willpower will be strong.

Eat the thing with a cup of coffee and enjoy a break. You’re entitled Elly.
Silverpearl said, 3 months ago
She’a used enough calories resisting temptation. I say eat it too.

Eat it. Life’s too short not to enjoy all it has to offer. And that includes donuts.

I would give the donut to my kids. Divided.

Weird. I didn’t realize donuts needed to be refridgerated.

Perfect opportunity for a Tim Hortons product placement. Those of you not in Canada or Northeast USA, “Timmy Ho” donut/coffee shops are always in sight.

I love her face in the last frame!
I think I’ll copy/cut this one out and hang it on the fridge, just for a laugh
AKHenderson said, 3 months ago
Garfield will protect her from that donut.

Don’t bother - a refrigerated donut tends to be dry and not worth the energy of resisting. Let one of the kids have it as a treat and enjoy something really good, like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. And could you pass a couple of cookies to me while you are at it?!
lauriecooks said, 3 months ago
those cookies sure sound better than that donut

According to her interviews, Lynn Johnston was anorexic around the time she originally did this strip. It’s interesting to see an artist work their own personal struggle into their work for humour.

When did Elly last check the fridge?!? She could well be salivating over nothing if Michael got there first! XD

Tim Horton’s is one of the things I like best about Canada!
As for refrigerated donuts, I refrigerate stuff like that and then microwave it for about 30 seconds and it tastes like fresh baked.
