Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Hmmm! and to think I was the same way. I must have ended many romantic nights for my parents. No wonder why I don’t have any brothers or sisters.

As a kid, I was sure that monsters lived under the bed and in the closet.

Mine does the exact same to me. As soon as I go sit down, she’s up doing something (getting a drink, “I had a bad dream”, etc). She’s definitely going to be a night owl. But no matter how grumpy I am about it, she always gets a hug and kiss.

Lol! @ ladywolf17! My kid sleeps like a rock. For a minute there when he was about 8 or 9 he would have these weird sleepwalking type nightmares where he would scream and run to ya and then he’d be looking at you but not looking at you mumbling something strange..that only happened about 2 or 3x but it was wierd.

my sisters used to tell my little brother there were “gators” in the creek behind our house to keep him away from the water.

Michael needs his daddy to give him a nice hug before he goes sleeping. :-)
I used to be like that. When I was a kid maybe the same age as Michael’s, woke up and asked my Mum for drinking a glass of water. She helped me to get a glass of water before she put me in my bed. And also, I despised the night light that plugged on the wall to dim in the night while sleep in bed. Because it haunted me like a monster or something. Now I am an adult, I don’t really care and still use the night light plugging with blue dimlight on the wall in my master bathroom so I will be able to see when I get up and go to bathroom in the middle of the night. That was terrible to remember about that.

There was no wall seperating the boys closet and there room from the girls closet. My oldest brother (he was about 10) would come into our room at night thru the closet and scare the cr-p out of my sister and me. He is still rotten to this day and he is now in his 70’s. Still don’t like him!

Good one pookid!
@jor-el- I had monsters too under the bed. But I gave everyone the heebeejeebees (can’t spell it!) by walking in my sleep- a lot! Down the street once.

I had an oval mirror just like the Disney mirror that talked. I was terrified of it at night.

How come nobody is raggin on Dad yelling at the kids – like they always get down on Elly for?
