Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Hey is this how Lio created that blob that he was walking around yesterday.

LOLs! Oh man! It is so bleeping funny!
Gweedo Murray said, 5 months ago
Yeah. That’s Lio’s blob, with added color. Least she remembered to do that.

Reminds me of “I Love Lucy” and the loaf of bread that trapped her in the kitchen!!!

I have a friend who has often made me some bread from her bread machine and she never adds salt. I just accept the bread and sprinkle a bit of salt on it before eating it. No biggie.
Silverpearl said, 5 months ago
Eight to twelve loaves every week for years. Yes you forget the salt once in a while. Make bread pudding, crumbs, salt the bread, never throw good food out.
Ash said, 5 months ago
@cleokaya, obviously you have never made saltless bread.

LMAO - this was hilarious! @EdCole, nice pun too! ;)

Ash - you are right. I make bread all the time, but have never forgotten to add the salt. With all these comments, I will make a point of continuing to add salt. LOL

Just wondering–did Elly say “D’oh!” when she realized she forgot the Salt??
howtheduck said, 5 months ago
If John found out, Elly would never live it down? What? I think John would be justified in saying:
a. Just add the salt to fix the problem, or tell Annie you are doing an unsalted bread recipe.
b. Don’t do 24 loaves at one time. You can’t possibly knead that much dough and our oven is not big enough for 24 loaves.
c. You made a huge mess of the trash can and it will attract animals.
d. We need to update our trash can to a modern one.
e. Didn’t someone already tell Lynn Johnston the problems with this strip back when it originally ran in 1979?
Burgundy2 said, 5 months ago
Problems with the strip? I think it’s hilarious. And hey, it’s just a comic.
And no, there was no computer forum with a peanut gallery back 79.

Many things get ruined by too much or too little salt. YUCK!!!

Once had bad dough at a pizza place I worked at. Threw enough away to make 50 pizzas into the dumpster, summer, in the 90’s.
It grew up over the side and stunk to high heaven.

heh, both Swedish and North-Italian bread is normally saltless. Can’t stand the stuff. The Italians have oil and salt to dip the bread in, usually, but the Swedes just basically dislike salt bread.

Burgundy2. Thanks for letting me know it’s just a comic. I keep forgetting that simple truth and I need to be regularly reminded. I’m glad you thought it’s hilarious, because hey, it’s just a comic. You lucked out this time.
Thanks for telling me there was no computer forum with a peanut gallery back in 1979. I did not know that prior to this computer forum, Lynn Johnston had no method of getting feedback on her comic strips. 1979 must have been a very primitive time.

Wow, howtheduck, what incredible sarcasm. I’m amazed you even read the comics with such a condescending attitude… or do you just hang out waiting to put people down with your “wit”?

been there. Not a pizzeria but a bakery. Pretty funny, but stinky.

lightenup. WRT your question: Do I just hang out waiting to put people down with my “wit”? The answer is “No.” My rule for commenting on a forum is not to personally insult the person for making a comment, but to address only the comments people have made, as I did with my response to Burgundy2. I believe personal attacks have no place on a polite forum.
