Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

I wonder if John ever told Elly about his night out when she was away.

Probably not. Now they both have something to share, or not. I think that transparency is the best- nothing happened.

Elly, don’t worry about what Connie said. She doesn’t know what she is talking about. Waiters rarely ever make passes at nerdy-looking dentists at dental conventions, even if they act single by dressing up, like you did.

Nothing pulls some crabgrass out of the lawn of life like having an attractuve member of the opposite sex (or same, if that is your orientation) make a pass at you, The “acting single” thing does not come in to play until your response to that pass.

Elly, just put it away in your memory book, to take out and look at when your feeling “frumpy”.

Connie’s made so many verbal boo-boo’s she has athlete’s tongue!
Unless!!!!!
Could that waiter be a family member or friend of Connie’s? Could she have put him up to making a pass at Ellie to make her feel better about herself?
Hmmmmm.
