Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

My wife, who is 5’ 2” and ways just over a hundred pounds could out belch a biker. And…believe it or not…she has class.

That’s a good way of not ever getting pop again, kiddo.

My youngest daughter used to belch like that (involuntarily!) from milk and water :) Drove her siblings nuts!!!

some Amash think that belching is the way to say that the food was good.

That is the question.

I remember Calvin’s similar situation : Braaaaak. Mom says “Calvin! What do you say!? Calvin responds: “Make way - barge coming through!”

I think the burping is not polite to do that. When I accidentally burp, I have to say politely “Oops! excuse me!”

why do natural bodily functions gross people out? We all know we do it!! LOL! (‘toot”) :-)

There are a lot of natural body functions that I’d rather not witness - there’s a reason bathrooms come with doors.

A truly good belch not only relieves pressure - it has a way of making a poetic statement, a sort of gastro intestinal Haiku.

In some Muslim countries, a host would be insulted if a dinner guest did NOT belch. It is a way of saying the food is good.

We MAKE babies burp. So they are more comfortable and are pleased when they do. When they get older we discourage it. Isn’t comfort important when we grow older? Manners and culture differences, interesting concepts. ;-)
