Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

That’s about right. She is a friend of Connies and Connie is a crazy, emotional nut case. The answer is sex. Connie needs sex. Nothing will stablize until Connie finds Studly Doright.

He forgot to add “needy”, “clingy”, and “pathetic”.

John, you’re treading on dangerous ground there–back off now while you can.

Men and women will never truly understand how the other thinks. That’s probably a good thing. A little mystery keeps things interesting, and if we really understood each other we probably wouldn’t be so interested.

Well John can’t help her. She’s Elly’s friend so let Elly try to deal with her. On the other hand, it’s possible John could give her some advice into how men think. It might help if she’d listen.

Men never seem to be completely cured of “foot in mouth” disease.

I agreed with John that Connie needed to be waited till Elly came home so she would go seeing Connie to cheer up, advise postively or whatsoever to make Connie feel much better. What neighborly friends are for? :-]

John’s just saying Elly is the expert at dealing with nutcases! What’s wrong with that? ;)
Anyway…
Here’s why desperate people are unattractive: They don’t care about what makes you who you are; they only care that you’re a warm body. And just about any other warm body would do just as well.

John’s head is detached from his body in the first panel.

I could notice what John was in the bed with Elly. His head was not detached from his body. He wore white pajama. He put his arms over his head on the pillow.

None of you get this. He knows a lot about Elly, so he has just said she ISN’T a “crazy, emotional nutcase.” The fact that Connie IS is undeniable.
