Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Yesterday I thought that Ellie would get some rest. It seems as if now she will not get any rest at all. Taking care of two sick kids when you’re sick too……..unbearable! Poor Ellie, she’s in for a terrible time.

Poor Ellie
boozer - just cuz your family was a drug addicted, alcohol laced family doesn’t mean that the rest of the world is. You don’t like it, DON’T READ IT.

I Suspect a trip to St. Swithins Hospital will do the trick then. A dose of bitters some hot drink, and Bob’s yer uncle!

I remember going to a Saturday movie matinee marathon, with the thrill of being handed a bag of candies by Santa Claus himself. I felt so awful, I bypassed the line and just went straight home, where I promptly passed my case of the mumps to my mother. So much for my mother enjoying Christmas.

Boozoo: I agree with the others, if you don’t like a strip, DON’T READ IT!
AllenVS: That kind of personal attack is uncalled for and will bring down the wrath of Liam.

I got ill that abruptly once on a family trip to see my father’s parents. I don’t recall anyone else getting it, but I certainly had a bad Christmas that year, and Mom probably did too!

When my DH was sick he wanted all the care. Too bad the kiddies were sick at the same time. They all went back to school and work and left me alone to be sick, thank goodness!!

It seems to always be this way. John won’t want to take a day off work to take care of them so grandma will have to come so poor Elly doesn’t have to care for the kids while she’s sick herself.

I’d not heard mention of St. Swithins in a long afternoon. Thank you for the reminder.
