Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

When I was a little boy it was worse. My two older brothers clipped my toenails. One would sit on me while the other held my feet.

I don’t understand why kids complain about it … I used to love it … never any other time mom would ‘faun’ over us except to clip our nails

Mike and toenails. Calvin and baths. I had one for whom it was shampoos!! Now he’s mostly bald!!

Clipping the kids can be worse than clipping the dog, sometimes.

I don’t have kids to do this with but cats. It can be a struggle but after they get used to having their claws clipped once in a while they don’t fight you as much.

I was born to older parents, so at the youngest age of memory, mom couldn’t see too well and would clip skin with my toenails and dang that hurts!!!

Clipping my kids’ nails was easy compared to trying to cut my elderly mother’s nails. Nails get thicker and harder with age!

Why did Daddy John teach Michael how to clip his toenails with that stupid little toeclipper? Teach him to use it than fighting eachother to get over with Michael’s toenails.
Sheesshh! lols!

Agreed, Wildmustang - let’s have Michael do it himself.
