Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Maybe a “Hello, how are you?” might have been best. :)

Third panel, if you don’t see Deanna’s face, it looks like Mike is smoochin’ her head LOL
C’mon Mikey, learn to be smart - DO NOT make fun of a girl unless your out of arms reach!

That right hook would get her a trip to the principal’s office and probably a few days of suspension in my neck of the woods.

I should’ve done the same to the boys who called me “Four Eyes” when I was in school.

THIS FROM THE FUTRURE BEST SELLER NOVELIST?

He might have said:
“Deanna, Deanna,
Sweet as a banana,”
and avoided getting slugged.

I’m wondering if it was really Deanna in the original version of the strip. Hasn’t she changed a few to match with modern ones?

It was Deanna in the original strips. Mike and Dee had a love/hate relationship in elementary school. Then her family moved away and he didn’t see her again til college.

Ah! Michael probably swallowed his egoistical pride up! He thinks he deserves that he learns his lesson not teasing Deanna again. LOLs!
