I’ve been of both sides of this situation.

How about experiencing both sides concurrently?

Too long that you have to shop (and get billed later), but too short that you can get off work.

I’m with Elly. Actually I don’t consider New Year’s a real holiday. What’s to celebrate, so it’s the first day of a new year. It’s an excuse for people to take two weeks off work and then if you need a particular service you have to wait til they decide to get back to their office. It’s stupid.

Macushlalondra: It’s the nature of things: ants toil while grasshoppers sing and play…Sorry, I guess I watched Alistair Simms A Christmas Carol a few times too many!

Remember that this was all taking place almost 30 years ago.

No I’m not a humbug, not where Christmas is concerned, only new year’s. I definitely celebrate Christmas and it’s true meaning.
