Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

It’s fun to torment siblings.

This is getting curiouser and curiouser. Maybe Phil and Connie have just been sharing notes on dust allergy.

Or perhaps they were sharing motes?

I just started receiving this on a daily basis. Can anyone tell me why the strip is being run from the beginning? Last time I read it, Liz and Mike were adults with children of their own.

The strip recently ended, and that’s why they are starting over again.

Lynn is reworking some strips as they go out, making changes and updates as they seem appropriate. I enjoyed them all along, but there’s a lot I am not familiar with, so I’m pretty much just going along for the view. :D

Teenage siblings… adult siblings… some things never change :)

Now I’m glad I didn’t have an older brother. In fact no brothers except for in-laws.

When I first heard reports that Lynn Johnston would partially retire, the notion was that she would continue the strip with Mike’s family being the principle feature. Also, the natural aging that has always been a part of the strip would cease. I like reliving the strips from the beginning, with new touches.

How old Phil was when he smokes that pipe? He looked much young to smoke that pipe. I love the smell from the pipe. That is much better than terrible smelling cigar!

Brothers seldom tell. Ask Connie. Women love to talk about their love lives.

That’s right. She doesn’t need Phil to tell her. Connie will tell it all in minute detail.

What can be said about gossip eh? People in general do nothing but gossip. Eventually she will find out what happened
