Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

God I can sympathize with this one. Once you start getting closer to 30 than 20, being a 5’4 female means you can’t ever eat anything fun unless you work out like a maniac or eat like an anorexic the rest of the week.

With the media worship of young, skinny bodies, it’s incereasingly difficult for women to face the reality of aging and the physical changes it brings.
Maybe Connie is afraid her husband will dump her for some anorexic bimbo.

But fresh home-made bread smells so good and goes well with so many things.

Her next book purchase should be “The Conquering Carbohydrates.”

Even being vegan doesn’t make you stay thin after 50! Of course, I was fat before I “saw the light”, I lost some weight but I’ll never be able to resist the bean dip and fritos (both are vegan)!

Let that be a lesson to all you health-food nuts. Healthy is fine but it’s not everything.
Maybe she needs more exercise. Children, or a puppy… ;)

Someone compared recipes from the 1960’s to today’s. The ingredients and amounts of those ingredients have changed little. But, there are fewer servings in the final product. A brownie today is 3 times the size of a brownie then.
Portion size.

It’s all about portions and exercise…

I remember that Connie was divorced in the original story. Is that currently the case in the re-runs, or a fate that awaits her?

I’m pretty sure that this is not Connie, but someone else.

I’m pretty sure this is Annie.

Beautiful women inhabit bodies of all different sizes, shapes, and ages.

scribbler67 Statements of fact can also be beautiful. Gals: not to strain yourselves to the anorexic, it helps to be at least ‘small’ enough that we can get our arms all the way around you for the best huggy experience but will be happy with the ‘package’ as it is.
