Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

I love the little scooty motion marks behind Farley!
You know, I thought about that phrase, and it still doesn’t look quite right. Oh well, posting anyway.

I think that may be his tail.

They usually call those lines just “motion” lines, but in Farley’s case “scooty motion” lines will suffice. The phrase may not LOOK right, but it sounds perfect for the pup because he is…”scooting” along. And, yes, that does seem to be his tail.

I vote for not his tail. His tail is a stub of a thing. Could be motion marks for the tail, or just sidewalk surface background.

Looking at it again, it COULD be a leaf blowing around his butt area. It seems to have some kind of form to it like the other leaves. Don’t think they could be “scooty” lines because they don’t seem to be moving too much against the wind and all.

It’s to indicate a swirling breeze or wind. You can see the Snow flurries and the leaves are airborne…
In other words it’s bleeep cold in Canada in winter.
As I said before the kids get the pet, and mom gets the care and feeding and it’s called the Family Pet,Sighhhh
Oh, whose butt we talking about?? Looks like Ellie’s to me.

As long as they’re not “scooty on the carpet” marks.

Why doesn’t Dad take the dog to potty, after all, it was his idea to get the dog.

Went I lost my oldest son my friends gave me a Jack Russel pup. I thank God they did, I have to walk him on demand and Throw Frisbees 3-4 times a day rain/shine, 90/20deg….gives meaning to life( which is what my friends wanted)

I think his stubby li’l tail is mostly blocked by his leash and those are scooty motion lines behind his fanny. That’s just like how a puppy toddles along!
Char32 said, 11 months ago
howlindawgs.. I stand corrected, I just realized he had a stubby tail and yes they do make short jerky pulls when on leash. Ergo ‘scooty lines’ Thanks, they keep drawing and lettering smaller and smaller. (:>}

Sorry to hear about your son, OldLegoDad.
Yep, a Jack Russell is high-energy and high-maintenance. You have smart friends.
And those three, maybe four (I got out a magnifying glass) little marks behind Farley’s fuzzy little butt are indeed scooty motion lines, not tail, leaf, or windgust.
