Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

You never have to freeze your buns off with a cat.

Its funny, I thought Lynn was really going to do new comics but starting from the beginning of the strip. I guess she is using the old strips again. I am staring at my 2008 calendar and this strip is exactly the same as the one for November 2008. I’ve been to her site and it said nothing about her reusing older strips. Time for another visit again.
Got to say though, its nice to see Farley again…I missed him.

If people don’t like the new way Lynn is writing/posting the srips, simply DON’T READ THEM! Many of us didn’t read the original strips and ARE enjoying them!

I remember this the first time around, but was really too young to appreciate them. Now, I find myself with 2 children (granted 7 and 4) and a 16-week old black lab puppy. Farley seems to be exhibiting the same growth spurt as my dog.

I love Farley in the last panel. It’s the same reaction I get from my kitten when I catch him getting into something he knows he’s not supposed to. I shout and he jumps up all scared just like that.

Lesson here…don’t get a puppy when the weather turns cold.

It is always the mom who has to take care of the puppy.

Where were you 2 weeks ago when I let my wife talk me into getting a puppy when its below 30 in the morning?

Oh I remember having those days when I lived in NJ with a dog who loved to sniff every blade of grass before he went to the bathroom and I was FREEEEZING standing there.

I have a LAB that loves outdoors and he needs to go 1st thing in the morning (5:00AM) it does not matter if is raining or snowing, and he does not care if is a holiday or weekend ;-)

This is one of my favourite FBOFW because it is so TRUE!

Y’know, reading the posts from pet owners describing their experiences is more fun than the strip itself.

Susan001, I agree with you but I loved that strip! I had no time to check it and went to work. I happened to take my break during my work at Wal Mart. I saw the comic on the newspaper. I read that strip. I burst and laughed so hard. Oh gosh! It was so hilariously funny.

I like Tigger’s comment…
Scare it out of him!
