Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

I’m so glad you have this comic on your site..I was sad when the strip was cancelled, or come to an end.. I was happy to see it was going to continue but neither of the local papers that I subscribe to carry it anymore..This comic and Sally Forth, which isn’t on this site at the present time are the comics I read first..

I like Sally Forth, too, and I also wish Gocomics would carry Rose is Rose.

With the Michael and Elizabeth so young, April isn’t part of the Patterson family yet. Would you consider aging the family a few years so April can be included? At least up to the point before Farley dies saving April from drowning in the river. I can still remember reading that series of strips like it was only yesterday.

Leave it as is. It’s great to see it all happen again.

Thanks for having Mom catch the boys and teach them some good fish care. You’re also honestly showing a young childs reaction to a fish bowl.

Yo westiewestaz- comics.com carries Rose is Rose and I must say the current guy is up to Pat Brady quality.

Maybe they should get Michael an aquarium with many other kinds of fish, they’re so much fun to watch and so relaxing.

I watched this family grow over the years. They always found humor in times of joy and times of pain.
I will miss them greatly…

I just hope this strip doesn’t end up like “Family Circus”.

Thank goodness the fish isn’t going to be stirred to death.
Did they ever explain how the Patterson’s got Farley? Does anyone remember?

I remember. Farley came from an older English lady who was a neighbor of the Pattersons. She bred English Sheep Dogs. She gave a “runt” to the Pattersons. We will see if Lynn does it the same way this time around. Can’t wait!
