Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

What? Cold feet? Is her sixth sense tingling and she knows about Grandpa Jim? Did she lose a contact lens? What?!

It’s just an excuse for cheap melodrama and dragging things out for yet another week. Are we there yet?

I certainly hope she isn’t having cold feet!!! But this wedding day does seem to be dragging on longer than even mine did!!

Dragging things out? What was your first hint – dialog such as “Stooba Gooba”???
I will be so happy when this strip ends.

I’m loving all of the wedding hub-bub. Write on, Lynn!!! If you’re tired of it - don’t read it. Duh!!!

I think she just wants everyone to shutup.

It is a comic, there is a wedding, shouldn’t this be fun? Whacking Grandpa Jim on the day of the wedding is wrong! If I wanted reality, I wouldn’t be subscribing to ucomics. Summer is almost over, wrap this up in a happy ending fashion.

Sounds like they are going to get on famously, gooba stooba. What’s the hurry when you’re winding down to retirement ?

I think she just remembered that they forgot something. Or maybe she wants to see Grandpa.

Hmmm, cue Simon & Garfunkel?

I agree with silverpearl. Looks like she forgot something (or someone). She’s a teacher, she should be able to put up with little kids getting caught up in excitement and getting silly. As far as Grandpa Jim, from what I read, Ms. Johnson wants to wrap up story lines so she can start with her “re-runs.” Grandpa Jim has been through enough. I do think the timing could have been figured better. Maybe after the reception.

Ever since Grandpa Jim had his heart-attack, I envisioned him either gently passing away, or having and out-of-body experience, and being able to walk Elizabeth down the aisle with John – sniff, sniff.

Wolfdreamer said yesterday, that Lynn said she would not kill off any more characters. So, if that is the case, Jim will recover this time. Wedding and Grandpa, too.

I think she should kill off jim and put him out of his misery already!!! I mean, the guy can’t say more than yes or no. Everyone’s gotta go sometime right? And isn’t it about time this wedding was over with already? It’s going on for weeks now!!!!

Well, remember that the wedding was supposed to be the last thing that Lynn was going to publish. She did change her mind but it takes several weeks in advance to make the comics. So if thats the case then the wedding should last till September.
Also I was looking at the FBOFW book - With This ring and saw that Micheal and Deena’s wedding took 17 days and that was just the wedding, don’t forget we have the grandpa drama too.
