Since its debut in 1979, For Better or For Worse has touched comic strip readers as few cartoons ever do. Cartoonist Lynn Johnston’s eye for detail and her uncanny sense of what real parents and children struggle with daily are a big part of her success. The world has watched the Patterson family grow up in real time, and to many readers, the Pattersons feel like family!
Parents and children alike will relate to the obstacles that the Patterson family faces. Curfews, parent date nights, babysitting, pets and distractions are all hurdles that the Pattersons must overcome in order to enjoy each other as a family. They face the same obstacles that real life families do, which is what makes them so loveable.

Is this wedding taking place at the overlook hotel all of a sudden? Maybe the last strip will feature the boiler exploding, remember Lizard Breath “it creeps”.

I still think she should have married Paul. Lynn could have killed him off in a tragic one car accident on icy roads, and she still could have married Anthony after a suitable mourning period.

I miss Barfey…..

Barfy is a pet in the Family Circle comic strip. You’re thinking of Farley. Aside from memory lapses, the story and most of the comments have been nice.
Is the series really ending?

If you visited the official For Better or For Worse website it states that the strip will be going back to the beginning with many of the original strips with Lynn Holly Johnson drawing some originals to fill in the lost ones. My problem with this is I’ve been reading this strip for 27 years and I’ve seen ALL of the originals. Loved them, watched these characters grown and change and loved the fact that these characters were allowed to grow and change with time. Now that’s been stopped. I know that is Lynn Holly Johnson’s creation, but her many loyal readers may be disappointed. I will miss this very original strip.

I’am so sorry to hear that lynn johnston is not going to continue with her strip. I thought that she would write the strip as it is now and not change a thing to it,i’am disappointed with how she is going with the strip.I liked how its been with the kids getting older and with Elizabeth wedding. This was my all time forvarte comic strip and now i’am going to have to find a new strip to fall in love with. I use to look forward to each days strip to see what was happening with the Patterson family,it was my daily fix for the day.why do all comic writer do this, its just like the comic strip Curtis. the writer did not want to write it any more and now my nephew is reading the Curtis strip from a book that he had to bye

Lynn-Holly Johnson played the blind skater in the cheesy Robby Benson movie ICE CASTLES. I don’t think she has anything to do with this comic.

bekahjwadkins - Their current dog’s name is Eddy, short for Edgar. The dog who died, which momsaid and swolf48110 are referring to, was Farley.
