    my daughter insist that bananas should be peeled from the end opposite the stem since cartoons always show monkeys holding them that way.

    Somebody at work claims they peel easier from the bottom (which is really the top, they grow upside down). That nasty little “button” at the end comes off, and you don’t get the strings, as they come off along with the peeling.
