    Well, it is a concrete jungle… just a forest of concrete and steel trees and a river of hungry cars…

    Also reminds me of the video game “Pitfall”

    This is also one time that you can question the gym teacher, since the gym rope test will fail you in real life…

    I found that they tried to bring Pitfall on a few others later on, too….

    We sometimes had a physical test for whatever unit we were in… we even had a gymnastics test, where we had to demonstrate skills on a few of the apparatus… broad jump, pommel horse, uneven bars, even bars, even the rings… oh,the rings!… that was when I had not so much fear (or as much gravitiy to have to fight, lol!) to do an upside down with my feet in the rings…
    =
    But for the test with the rope, we had to climb up as high as possible… and there was the temptation to swing.. but today’s strip made me think about it, how crazy it would be to need the rope skills from gym class to work in a situation like this, to even find a shortcut to get across the street… or to swing… like you would say: “Well, glad I learned that one!” Lol!….

    By unit, I infer that you mean military unit…..? I was referring to school. I wanted to learn academic things but gym was a complete non-starter.

    @pcolli

    No, not military… In school, they broke down a subject into units… they did it for math, social studies, etc… so, for gym, there would be a different “unit” here and there… one example would be a unit in football… and for a few weeks, the unit would be further broken down, into a topic on one aspect of it, and another aspect the next week, until finally the “unit” test on the whole subject of football that was covered.. so that’s what I was describing on both the “gymnastics” unit we had, and the “physical fitness” unit we had….
