the car may be a weapon but he may not want his ‘weapon’ to be banged up and damaged, would cost a lot to repair.

Although a recent Mythbusters showed that, at certain distances (especially with a good throwing knife), bringing a knife to a gunfight isn’t as stupid as it sounds.
